Dundrum Castle | Dundrum

It's hard to contemplate how something built in 1177 could still be standing, but that is the case for Dundrum Castle.

The car park down below provides a challenge, with a steep mount to the summit, but the climb is definitely worth the effort.

Originally built as part of a range of coastal defence structures, it sits on a hill overlooking the picturesque town of Dundrum. Surrounded by stunning views of the Dundrum Bay and Mourne Mountains, there is much more to admire than the structure alone. Climb all the way to the top of the stairs within the keep for the best position.

With so much to see, Dundrum Castle is an ideal cheap day out for one and all. Beautiful views, history and some gentle exercise to boot, the whole family will love it.
