Castlederg Castle | County Tyrone, Northern Ireland

If you love to explore historical sites then you might enjoy visiting Castlederg Castle in Strabane County Tyrone.

This castle ruin is located on the River Derg, and excavations revealed a 15th century tower house on the site before the castle! The ruins consist of a rectangular bawn with square flankers at each corner.

There are no records of the castle being occupied since 1641, so it's been abandoned and left to ruin for a long time. To visit, it's free and can be found by following sign posts from Castlederg Main Street.
