Monea Castle | County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland

If you ever find yourself near the town of Enniskillen, you should definitely stop off and explore the ruin of Monea Castle!

This grand castle was built back in 1618, and it featured grand corner turrets, four-storeys and a walled bawn. The history of this site seems to be uncertain, but local records suggest it was burned in the 18th century and has been abandoned ever since.

You can visit this castle ruin for free, from Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. The site is now owned by the local government, making sure it's maintained enough for us all to visit and enjoy.
