Ashmolean Museum | Oxford

Paying a visit to the historic city of Oxford? Make sure you add a trip to the Ashmolean Museum to the top of your to-do list.

Widely recognised as being the world's first modern museum, the Ashmolean is a must for history and culture buffs. The museum is home to treasured objects, some of which by the museum's founder, Elias Ashmole, in 1683.

Collections at the Ashmolean include art, artefacts, sculptures as well as modern multimedia pieces.

Despite having so much to see and do, entrance to the Ashmolean is free for all. It's open between the hours of 10 am - 5 pm Tuesday to Sunday and is open until 8 pm on the last Friday of every month.
