Samuel Johnson was an English writer, essayist and most importantly a lexicographer. He published A Dictionary of the English Language back in 1755 and it is among one of the most influential dictionaries in the history of the English language.

His family home in the town centre of Lichfield has been turned into a museum, giving us all the chance to delve into his life, for free!

This is such a fabulous day out with all the family, as it's free entry and this place is wonderful for teaching your little ones about the power of language and this important figure of our history.
