Arguably better known for its film adaptation, Gone with the Wind was originally a novel! Written by American writer Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936, its a novel that spans the romance, war and historical fiction genres.
The story is set in Clayton County and Atlanta, both in Georgia, during the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era. It is famed for the central character, Scarlet O'Hara who in the midst of tragedy, always finds a sense of optimism.
