Free Native Trees for Hertfordshire Residents

Hertfordshire residents, here's a lovely one! Hertfordshire County Council's Your Tree Our Future scheme is back for 2026, and you can request a free native tree — or even a hedgerow pack — to plant in your garden or on land you have permission to use within the county.

Eight species are available while stocks last, including Crab Apple, Silver Birch, Wild Cherry, Hazel, Rowan, Field Maple, Hornbeam and Hawthorn. Hedgerow packs are also on offer and contain 36 trees, enough to plant around 6 metres of hedging. All trees are UK-grown, around two years old, and chosen to suit Hertfordshire's soil conditions and support local wildlife.

To claim, order online via the link and you'll receive a confirmation email within two business days.

Each district will have a dedicated local pick-up point, with the main collection date on Saturday 5 December 2026. Additional dates are available in Stevenage (8 December) and Borehamwood (9 December).

You must commit to planting your tree within Hertfordshire, on land you own or have the landowner's permission to use.
