York Art Gallery | York, Yorkshire

York Art Gallery is impressive in both appearance and possessions. The building overlooks Exhibition Square which features an impressive fountain, dominated by York artist, Willian Etty.

It's a fitting setting, as York Gallery boasts the largest collection of work by Etty. He has also exhibited in the space itself.

Inside the museum, visitors can walk through galleries which display work that spans over six hundred years, from the time of the Wars of the Roses up to the present day. There are decorative arts, paintings, studio pottery and works on paper to see.

If you fancy a pit stop during your exploration of the Gallery, the on site Café No.8 offers delightful refreshments from breakfast to lunch.

Adults are charged a £6.81 entry free, but kids go free. If you're an art lover, get the York Art Gallery on your list of place to visit in York today!
