Guest Post: Excerpts from Talisman Of El by Alecia Stone - Free Day on February 5th
“Mortals cannot perceive me with the physical eye whilst in my pure form unless it is of my choosing for it would result in fatality, which leaves the question as to why you are an exception.”
Today I want to share some excerpts from my bestselling young adult fantasy novel, Talisman Of El. The page numbers are from the hardback edition.
Prologue – pg 10
He saw no one but his father. Then he felt a sharp pain in his arm, heard his shirt tear, and cried out. Something warm dribbled down his arm. When he placed his hand on it and drew it back, he saw blood. His father screamed, and he looked up and saw him flying across the room, crashing into a bookshelf that collapsed under him.
‘Dad!’ Derkein sprinted towards him but felt a powerful blow across his chest that sent him flying backwards, and he landed hard on the floor, his gun falling out of his hand. Staggering to his feet, he glanced around for whatever had attacked him but saw nothing. His gaze landed on his father, who was groaning … and then he was gone. There were no bright lights or loud noise. He had just vanished.
Chapter Five: The Shack – pg 74
‘Revive her?’ said Charlie. ‘Like, bring her back from the dead?’ ‘Yes.’ Derkein laughed to himself. ‘Of course, I thought he’d finally cracked, but then he mentioned Thomas. You see, Thomas had told him about a place called Arcadia …’ His voice trailed off, and he exhaled. ‘Arcadia is a world at the centre of the earth.’
‘Come again?’ Alex said.
