In a news study conducted at Hiroshima University in Japan, researchers have found that images of baby animals may improve your performance at work.
48 college students were asked to complete a game similar to Operation. They had to pluck out tiny pieces from the body of a 'patient'. After one round, half the students looked at pictures of baby animals whilst the others were shown pictures of adult animals. Then students were asked to complete the task again.
It was found that the students that had viewed the baby animal pictures were able to pluck out more tiny pieces. Another similar experiment was set and the results were the same - looking at baby animal pictures increases productivity,
One theory is that baby animals invoke positive feelings as they resemble human babies with big eyes and large heads, This will make humans feel like they must care - and increase focus and concentration.
