A visit to York City Walls is a must for anyone planning a trip to this historic city. Dating all the way back to the Middles Ages, the York City Walls really are a journey back in time!
Measuring at just over 3 kilometres in length, the York City Walls are the longest medieval walls in England, attracting two and a half million visitors a year.
Acting as protection for the city for nearly 2,000 years, there are lots of key spots along the walls, so make sure you pick out the walls and gates you wish to visit if you don't think you can squeeze in a full trip.
Entrance to the walls is free, however you can pre-book a guided tour for a cost.
