Free Day Out at Science and Industry Museum
Here's a brilliant free day out for those in Manchester this October half term! The Science and Industry Museum is running a packed FREE holiday programme from 24 October to 1 November 2026, with a space and alien theme inspired by their Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos exhibition.
There's loads to keep the kids busy throughout the day: create your own alien species, build a spacecraft with a giant rocket kit, go on a galactic treasure hunt around the museum, and try your hand at stop-motion animation in the Animation Studio (limited capacity, so arrive early for that one). Free family-friendly sci-fi screenings run each morning at 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30, including Pixar's Lifted and the BBC's The Smeds and the Smoos. From 24–31 October, there's also a giant monster installation in the Upper Yard as part of Halloween in the City. The museum also opens early (from 9am) Monday 26 to Friday 30 October.
Admission to the museum and the holiday programme is completely free, though booking is recommended. Press our pink button below to head to the booking page and secure your slots.
