Free Entry to Historic Scotland Sites
Scotland residents, here's a brilliant day out waiting for you! Historic Environment Scotland are running Historic Sundays — giving everyone living in Scotland free entry to some of the country's most iconic historic sites on the first Sunday of every month, from October 2026 through to March 2027. We're talking Stirling Castle, Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness, Skara Brae, Doune Castle, Melrose Abbey and more — well over 20 sites taking part in total.
A couple of important things to know before you head out: tickets must be booked online in advance (there is no walk-up free entry on the day), and proof of address may be required on arrival as this offer is for Scotland residents only. Tickets for 5 October are already fully booked at several popular sites, but new tickets for each subsequent Sunday are released on a rolling basis — so it's worth checking back regularly.
