I've just had a lovely week off resting and seeing family but it's nice to be back at MagicFreebiesUK HQ. During my time off I saw Wicked, the hit musical at the beautiful Apollo theatre in Victoria and I just wanted to rave about it!
I'm not a frequent musical watcher I'll be honest, but when my friend Louise told me she'd got hold of some tickets I was excited as I knew of the song 'Defying Gravity' and secretly loved it / sung it in the shower.
I hadn't really heard much about it but Louise had recently heard someone on a train talking about how it was the best show they'd ever seen, so we were both excited.
As it turns out, the show was spectacular and a part of me wants to go see it again - soon!
Based on a parallel story to 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' the book is called 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' by L. Frank Baum. The musical tells of Glinda and Elphaba's journey through Shiz University, Oz and beyond. It's a story of friendship, power and love all wrapped into one spellbinding show.
Rachel Tucker's performance of 'Defying Gravity' did not disappoint and Louise and I have still got it stuck in our heads / singing it in public to this day.
Why not check Wicked out for yourselves? Enjoy!
