Previous magazine freebies

While it's impossible to predict what magazines are going to have as their next freebie, these are some ones that we've spotted in the past:

Elle's July 2018 edition had a great freebie for fans of beauty brand Benefit. All three of Benefit's legendary mascaras were available to collect: BADgal Lash, they're Real and Roller Lash. With each retailing at £10.50, picking one up for £4.99 and getting a magazine with it seems an absolute bargain!

Free Rodial Lip & Eye Mask Set from March 2018 edition of Elle

This was another great Rodial magazine freebie - this time we picked up a Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye & Lip Mask set from the March 2018 edition of Elle. Both masks promised to hydrate and tone the delicate skin area around the lip and eye and they certainly delivered.

This mask set retails at £12, so to get a pack plus a magazine for £4.40 was a steal!

Free Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water in September 2018 edition of Cosmopolitan

This Simple Micellar Cleansing Water in September's Cosmo is great for removing makeup and other impurities. The travel size is perfect for holidays as it fits within airport travel restrictions. At just £2 for an edition, this was a great beauty freebie!

Why do magazines give away freebies?

Companies collaborate with magazines to give away freebies for lots of reasons.

1. Exposure for the product

Companies spread word about their product by giving it away for 'free' in a magazine. Those who may not have purchased the product in the first place are introduced to it; if they like it, they'll be more likely to purchase again in the future.

2. The magazine's audience is similar to that of the product

Companies will be keen to give their product exposure to people who will be interested in it. This is where magazine freebies can come in handy.

Women's beauty magazines will often team up with makeup and beauty brands to give away free samples of a new product. They know that the kind of audience that will purchase that magazine are the kinds of people more likely to purchase their product after they've gotten it for free.

3. Encourages sales of the magazines

It's no secret that a lot of people purchase magazines for the free gift that comes with it.

Everyone likes getting something for free, so the promise of a gift and a magazine for the price of just a magazine is a bargain too good to miss.

If a magazine wants to boost their sales, a free product is a great way to entice people in. They are also a way to encourage new customers to buy a magazine for the first time; if they enjoy the content then they could be likely to buy it again next month.

Now, you might be thinking...

Are magazines still a thing? And where's the best place to buy them?

With the internet slowly taking over most aspects of our lives, the thought of an actual ink and paper magazine seems a bit archaic. However, printed magazines are still a common form of journalism and are a much more reader-friendly way of learning information.

In a world where the majority of our information comes from a screen, it's refreshing to pick up a magazine, find a comfy spot and lose yourself in it for an hour or so. And what could be better than one that comes with a fab free gift?

If a magazine comes with a freebie, it persuades the reader to take a moment for themselves and read about topics that interest them, off the screen.

We hope you have fun finding all the best magazines and their freebies. Remember to let us know about any others that we may have missed!
