When you're a poor struggling student, free stuff can truly brighten your week. A free bag of crisps from the supermarket or a free voucher for an eye test - it doesn't matter, as long as it's free!
Companies, banks, restaurant and pubs want you with them for three years - so take advantage of this and start getting some free stuff...
1. Pick the right student card
Don't just become a member of the first card you see - shop around and see what others have to offer. You have to decide what is most important to you, whether your goal is to save money on shopping, saving on eating out or grabbing free cheeseburgers.
Shop around and start making notes - that little bit of extra research could save you lots of money!
2. Birthday fun
Sign up to as many newsletters as you can and look forward to birthday vouchers, free drinks and more! If you tell all your friends to do the same thing you could end up saving yourself a small fortune on eating and drinking out.
The reason companies give away birthday freebies is to get you to bring your friends and celebrate with them! Just remember to keep an eye out in your e-mail inbox leading up to your birthday, you never know what treats you might get.
3. Get social
Make sure you're on Facebook and Twitter and start interacting with the companies you love best. It's a great way for you to find out about any new products and be the first to know of any freebie giveaways or competitions.
Tip: If you're worried about your street cred, why not set up brand new accounts on Twitter or Facebook for your freebie finding?
Got something to say? If you love to write and give your opinion then maybe it's time for you to get a blog. It's a great place to review local places to share with friends and family. If you start to get a big following, local places may start to invite you to try their new menus or products. Watch the freebies roll in!
