5 FREE VALENTINE'S DAY DATES
Now the gifts are sorted, here are a five FREE DATE ideas from Colleen...
1. Grab your walking boots
We all spend too much time staring at screens these day, whether it’ your mobile phone, computer, tablet. Why not enjoy a no-screen day and pick up your walking boots? The UK is full of beautiful countryside ready to be explored, so take a picnic (sausage rolls, hip flask, scotch eggs) and head out into outside world. If you don’t have a dog – why not borrow a neighbour’s?
2. Home Spa
If the great outdoors isn’t for you, turn your home into a spa for the evening. With some cucumber water, and dressing gowns upon arrival, you can create a romantic and relaxing evening for you and your loved one. Start with a rose petal bath complete with candles and meanwhile set up a massage room with fresh towels and relaxing music. There are plenty of instructions on the internet on how to give a great massage, so why not give it a whirl? We’ve already got two great guides for your home spa, so you want to go that extra inch, consider offering treatments such as a Free DIY Pedicure or a Free DIY Facial.
3. Lights Off
Save money on your electricity bill during this date! Turn the lights off for an evening and dig out all your candles. It’s time to find new and exciting ways to entertain yourselves, perhaps dinner by candlelight, shadow puppet guessing game or why not take turns in telling ghost stories? You could even play a game of truth or dare – write your questions before hand and take turns in picking them.
…from the comfort of your home. If money is tight then why not turn your living room, kitchen and bedroom into different countries around the world? With music, nibbles, decorations and a few chosen phrases, your sweetheart will love the effort you’ve gone to make the evening special. Need inspiration? ·
- Make pizza in your kitchen, dance to Andrea Bocelli and get some art supplies to draw portraits of each other – you’re in Italy! ·
- Turn your garden into Austria with fondue, steaming hot chocolates and blankets. ·
- Head to China - order Chinese food, make paper lanterns and watch Mulan in your living room.
5. Game night
This is the perfect cheap evening for a competitive couple. Games nights call for some serious finger foods such as pizza, crisps, dip and a selection of sweets. Don’t forget to keep a running score and you could even make up a trophy out of tinfoil for the winner! If the two of you love video games then why not dust off the console and have a bit of fun in front of the telly.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone- let it be free and filled with love!
