Exeter Guildhall

The Guildhall is a building of outstanding architectural interest, an ancient monument and a busy working building. It is still used regularly for civic functions, full meetings of the City Council, official receptions, mayoral banquets and exhibitions.

 

Opening Times

The building is normally open every day. Please check out the latest opening times before you visit as they are subject to change at short notice.

 

Hiring the Guildhall

The Guildhall is licensed to hold weddings and civil partnerships as well as being available to hire for private events and other ceremonies. Please click on the link for more information: Guildhall Weddings & Civil Partnerships

 

Private Tours

The Guildhall offers private tours for individuals or groups of up to 50 people. On a private tour you will see Exeter’s history in one of the buildings that has witnessed it all over the past 800 years.

Tours with one of our Mace Sergeants can be tailored to your specific interests, but cover the history of the Hall, Jury Room, Mayor’s Parlour, Paintings, Regalia and more.

Tours last for approximately one hour and costs per person are as follows:

  • Private Tour including tea coffee & biscuits £7.50 per person (inc VAT)
  • Private Tour including Cream Tea £10.00 per person (inc VAT)

Unfortunately other than the Great Hall the Historic Guildhall is not wheelchair or pushchair accessible. Toilets and disabled toilets are available on-site.
