Summer Season | What's On

This summer here at Leicester Cathedral, we will have exciting opportunities to explore and enjoy stories – of Leicester/shire, of faith, of culture – as we celebrate the new life our restored Cathedral building is bringing.

High among our Summer Season this year is a wide offering of music and events, from special concerts, services, and more – from renowned concert pianist Ida Pelliccioli to our popular series of lunchtime recitals.

Bring a friend or relative to sing in the restored space of the Cathedral in Dementia Week. Laugh between the pillars at local Paul Gosling's Dr Watson comedy production. Reflect with us on Iain McKillop's extraordinary painting series Stations of the Resurrection. Explore the city's excavations with world renowned archaeologist Mathew Morris, and food growing in the heart of the city with Saffron Acres gardeners.

Leicester Cathedral is at the beating heart of our city and county, and for 900 years this building has been a place of welcome, worship, and music. We invite you to join in this adventure!

Visit us

Leicester Cathedral is at the physical heart of our city and county.

Our church, built on the site of a Roman temple and dedicated to St Martin of Tours, has been embedded in the public, economic, cultural and religious life of this community for over 900 years. Since 1927, as the seat of the Bishop of Leicester, we now gather people together for worship, celebration, lament, debate and service of the poor and vulnerable.

We offer hospitality to the wider church, the communities of faith that make up our multicultural society and those who come as visitors to the East Midlands, especially in search of the story of King Richard III.

I invite you to join with us in this adventure.
