There are plenty of ways to save some money in your day to day life. Here at MagicFreebiesUK we are always interested in finding out ways to save you money, so we thought we’d put together some tips to show you how you can save some extra cash in and around the home. For more details on how to save on gas and electric bills please see our Saving Energy page

  1. Switch Off

Do you turn off all your appliances before going to bed? You could save yourself money by switching off lights, computers and televisions. Your mobile phone charger still uses electricity even when the plug is switched off, remember to unplug it.

  2. Clever Cleaning

Try using a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda on a damp cloth instead of cream cleaners to clean enamel and lime scale away. You can also use vinegar to clean mirrors and windows as it works great on glass. For food stains bicarbonate of soda can be added to the wash to get rid of food stains. Leave the clothes to dry for a few days in sunlight and rain. This also makes whites whiter!

  3. Sensible Shopping

There are plenty of charity shops which have clothes in if you can take the time to delve. If you are great on the sewing machine you can always customise your clothes with beads or sequins. If you are a fashion follower and can’t help but shop for new clothes, check out websites like Big Wardrobe. You can put up clothes that you don’t want onto the site and exchange them for cash or new clothes.

  4. Have a Haircut

Offer to be a model for your hairdressers, sometimes it comes free if you are looking for a modern style. You can also get a cut by a trainee which comes at a reduced price. Find out if there are any local hair colleges by you as you can also find a reduced cut by training college pupils.

  5. Give Up The Gym

Unless you go every day to the gym and really make the most of what you’re paying them it is a good idea to cancel your membership. Join a local running group or go running on your own, or buy a bike with the money you would have spent at the gym.

  6. Test TV Deals

Do you have the best deal on your television and internet set up? Perhaps you don’t need all the channels that you have and could replace the package with Freeview. Check out the comparison sites such as moneysupermarket.com to compare all the deals available. Remember if you switch through the website you can get as much as £30 cashback.

  7. Dabble With Direct Debit

You can save a small amount of money by paying your bills direct from your account each month. Remember to make a note as to when the direct debits leave your account so you won’t be caught out.

  8. Happy Hobbies

If your hobbies include spending a lot of money perhaps you should consider what else you can do. If you like nothing more than a pint and a game of darts, buy a darts board for your home. You can also save money on alcohol by buying it from a local supermarket.

  9. Find Free Stuff

Aside from receiving wonderful free items from this MagicFreebiesUK why not join the the Freecycle Network at Freecycle or look on the freebies page at Gumtree. These sites are all about not letting unwanted items go to waste, and you can find anything from beds to televisions to bird cages. If you have a new baby on the way, you can find everything you need from car seats to cribs without spending a penny.

  10. Keep Warm Through Winter

Fitting your home with double-glazed windows will save you a packet when it comes to the winter. Buying draft excluders can also help with the chill and even simply putting another layer of clothing will lower your heating level and help reduce your gas bill significantly.
