Historic houses, inspiring cathedrals and great shopping destinations will all make for a great day out.

If you're interested in the tastes and styles of the urban middle classes then head to The Geffrye Museum set in the delightful 18th century almshouse buildings. There us also a walled herb garden and series of period gardens. Tickets are only £2 with a free admission for children under 16.

The British Museum

The British Museum

The British Museum holds more than seven million objects from all over the world helping to illustrate and document the story of human culture from its beginning to present day. Sunday to Wednesday the museum is open from 9am to 6pm, every Thursday the museum is open later until 8.30pm.
