Young people in the North East are saving more money than ever, research has found.
More than 70 percent of the region's 18 to 24 year-olds said that they make an effort to save cash each month.
Some 60 percent said that they are saving the same, or even more, than they were last year, with more than 40 percent saving in case of redundancy.
The results of the study, by website MagicFreebiesUK.co.uk, also showed that two thirds of young people in the region do not spend anything on a credit card each month.
Tom Bryant, founder of the site, said: "In the current climate the future is uncertain for much of Britain's youth, but the survey has proven that young people are taking the situation very seriously.
